GuitarFest 2017

About the Festival

Ormiston College is very excited to announce GuitarFest 2017, which will take place over the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August 2017

As the saying goes ‘Mighty oaks from little acorns grow’ and that is exactly our aim.

We would like to invite you to join us in the Ormiston College GuitarFest. Our goal is for the event to become an annual Redland City music festival, one that brings together world-renowned musicians as well as players and listeners from all levels of musicianship. We want to inspire and create an environment where, for one weekend each year, the love of music will be looked-forward to, shared and enjoyed.

The GuitarFest is a place for:-

  • Inviting the public to appreciate the musical diversity of children
  • Teachers to share their repertoire in a professional environment
  • Students to feel inspired by other students and headline acts
  • Tertiary-level performers to demonstrate their musicality
  • Redlanders and the extended community to enjoy the GuitarFest hospitality

Our invitation is extended to you, your guitar students between Years 3 and 12 at school and any interested members of your staff who would like to attend. Participating students will combine to create an exciting, massed Guitar Ensemble, giving them an opportunity to work alongside students of similar and higher ability, whilst broadening their ensemble skills in rehearsal and concert context.

For the convenience of both visitors and participants, the Ormiston College Music Support Group will have refreshments of food and beverages available for purchase throughout the Concert Finale.

We would be delighted if you would be part of this historical performance weekend, which will surely be the largest gathering of guitars in the Redlands.

Registration and full participation in the Ormiston College Guitarfest 2017 is completely free of charge, as is attendance for audience members at the Concert Finale in the Lingo Lin Performaing Arts Theatre.
