At 6.30pm on Saturday 27 July, the Somerset Sports Centre displayed a room full of empty chairs and tables covered in white tablecloths. Within minutes of the doors opening, the Hall of Fame was transported into a magical Christmas tavern. A magnificently dressed table was transformed by 10 haloed angels, complete with wings: another table seating 10 knitted Rudolph’s with red noses, added to the Christmas spirit. Everywhere you looked there were happy groups of people dressed in red or green, silver and gold tinsel or other Christmas attire, all decorating their tables.
At 7pm the Question Master commenced the first round and the challenge was then then on. Competition was rife, secrecy was a must, gold logies and medals were at stake. Nevertheless, fun and enjoyment led to lots of laughter, plus many riotous cheers and boos at the end of each round, when the answer sheets had been handed in and answers were read out.
The atmosphere was electric, everyone had a wonderful night. The fact that the mixed group was made up of current parents, past staff members and parents of past students meant there were may very happy reunions. It was a great evening, not only for sharing a fun Trivia Night, but also for coming together as a member of the Ormiston College community. The event was hosted by POPS and the funds raised will go towards a marquee for POPS, the OC Alumni and Past Staff, providing a regular meeting place at future Ormiston College events.
