In the last week of term, Senior Secondary Drama students across Years 10, 11 and 12 impressed their audience of family and friends when they presented their assessment-based work.
Students worked very hard behind the scenes to collaborate, devise and rehearse their performance pieces. The dramatic styles explored included Physical Theatre, Greek Theatre, Shakespeare, Gothic Drama, Cinematic Theatre as well as Postmodern Theatre. The intention was to not only entertain an audience, but also challenge their thinking by presenting different ways to share stories and explore themes.
Through devised pieces and dramatic concepts, students created innovative work as they fused and developed hybrid styles of Drama. The students also implemented lighting and sound technology into their pieces. In doing so, they engaged with 21st Century Skills including working as a creative team, imagination, problem solving and critical thinking.
Thanks must go to our Theatre Manager, Chris Benton, the Cultural Committee and parent helpers for their technical and front-of-house assistance.
